ROCHESTER - A Somersworth man was arrested Saturday on eight counts of hit-and-run after police say his vehicle plowed into multiple mail boxes and other private property on Old Dover Road before crashing into a vehicle on Charles Street where he was taken into custody.
Brian S. Mourgenos, 53, of Plaza Dr., Somersworth, was also charged with DUI.
The incident unfolded around 9:10 a.m. when police dispatch received a call that a pickup truck had struck multiple mailboxes and other property along Old Dover Road.
"The same pick-up truck ultimately struck a sedan on Charles Street and stopped," said Rochester Police Public Information Officer Andrew Swanberry.
After catching up with Mourgenous on Charles Street he was arrested on the DUI and leaving the scene in which private property was damaged by his vehicle.
He was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and later released on personal recognizance with an arraignment in Rochester District Court set for April 26.
