CONCORD - A Massachusetts man serving time in the New Hampshire State Prison system for aggravated felonious sexual assault on an 11-year-old Kingston girl in 2007 was found in distress inside his call early Thursday and later died.

According to a Department of Corrections press release State Police are investigating the death of Wayne Walker, 54, formerly of Amesbury, Mass. Corrections officials say staff responded to Walker around 5:35 a.m. on Thursday during rounds. Correctional officers and medical responders attempted life saving measures on Walker while awaiting support from a Concord Emergency Medical Services team responding to the incident. Efforts to save Walker were unsuccessful.

Officials termed his death "unanticipated," prompting an investigation which will include consultation with the state's medical examiner and State Police.
