LONDONDERRY - A 17-year-old died died on Friday from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash this afternoon on Interstate 93.
The fatal crash occurred around At 2:45 p.m. near mile maker 14 on I-93 southbound. Witness accounts revealed that a 2008 Mercury Milan was traveling southbound when it went off the interstate to the right-hand side and struck several trees, according to a press release sent out from the Dept. of Safety Friday evening.
The interstate was completely shut down for a brief period of time while members of the Londonderry Fire Department worked to extricate the driver from the vehicle. The driver, identified as Lillianna Cawthron, of Londonderry, was transported to Elliott Hospital in Manchester where she later died.
Traffic was limited to two travel lanes for about four hours while the investigation was conducted and the vehicle was removed from the scene.
