Leslie Horne wins Ward 2 City Council slot; Pickering Rd crosswalk beacon OK'd

ROCHESTER - Leslie Horne was appointed to fill the vacant Ward 2/Seat B position during a City Council meeting on Tuesday.

Horne got seven votes, which put him over the top to fill the vacancy. City Clerk Kelly Walters conducted the oath of office and Horne immediately joined in the City Council meeting.

On June 18, City Council held a special meeting to conduct open interviews with candidates seeking to fill the vacant Ward 2/Seat B position.

Three candidates participated, including Horne, Michael Dionne, and Raymond Turner.

Also on Tuesday councilors unanimously approved a flashing beacon for a Pickering Road crosswalk near the intersection of Railroad Avenue in Gonic.
