LEBANON - Larry Torno, Lebanon's Road Commissioner for the past five years, died on Saturday surrounded by family at his home in Lebanon, according to a close family friend.

Torno died of an untreatable form of cancer. He was 62.

He had been hospitalized most recently at Frisbie Memorial Hospital, but was brought home on Friday.

"It was very emotional," said family friend Jim Durgin of the past couple of days at the Torno household.

Torno, a lifetime Lebanon resident, was a former assistant chief with Lebanon Fire and was working his second 3-year term as road commissioner when he fell ill in December.

He is survived by his wife, Pam; sons Larry Jr., Chuck and Tommy; a daughter, Angela and several grandchildren.
