DOVER - A Lebanon man will escape jail time after he pleaded guilty to two charges of having control of premises where drugs were found.
The plea deal announced last week allows Andrew W. Bruyere, 33, of Second Street, Lebanon, Maine, to admit to two Misdemeanor A charges in lieu of two previous felony drug possession indictments that occurred in connection with incidents in June and August of last year.
Strafford County Attorney Chelsea Lane said she was happy with the agreement, since Bruyere is actively seeking help with his battle against addiction. He will continue drug counseling as part of the agreement, which allows for two concurrent one-year jail terms suspended for two years and a year of probation.
"He's getting treatment which is what he needs," Lane said on Friday.
Lane said the light sentence was also due to Bruyere having no previous criminal record.
