HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. - Lance Michael Oates, 45, Hendersonville died on Monday February 21, 2022, at the Pardee Hospital, due to complications from COVID.

Born in Dover, N.H., on Nov. 29, 1976, the son of W. Timothy and Diane M. Oates. Lance attended Dover Catholic, St. Thomas Aquinas high school and the University of Maine.

After college Lance moved to Atlanta, Ga., where he managed several restaurants.

Despite the many issues from his surgery at the age of 12, he remained a kind and compassionate person to everyone in his life. His warm smile is remembered by all that knew him.

He was a diehard Red Sox and Bruins fan. Lance and his father would travel to Atlanta every year to watch the Red Sox play the Braves. He loved to travel to minor league baseball parks throughout the east coast.

In 2012 he moved to Hendersonville, NC, he lived until his untimely death.

Lance is survived by his parents W. Timothy and Diane M. Oates. His brother Shane M. Oates and his wife Justine, two nieces Allison and Emily Oates, his aunt and uncles Christine Ayers, Lee Ayers, Chuck Mantos and sixteen cousins.

He was preceded by his grandparents, Albert and Mary Oates, Charles and Gloria Mantos.
