ROCHESTER - Karen (Sylvain) Regis, 70, died on Friday, June 28, 2024, in her home.
Karen was born June 19, 1954, to Ernest and Claire (Henry) Sylvain in Austin, Texas. She graduated from Portsmouth High School in Portsmouth in 1972.
Karen was politically active her whole life, including protesting nuclear power with the Seacoast Anti-pollution League in the '70s. She took time to write to her congressmen and senators throughout the years showing she was a true patriot. She loved writing letters and sending beautiful cards to her loved ones. Karen also enjoyed baking, often bringing her baked goods to church for refreshments.
Karen was extremely proud of all her children, and particularly proud that she had three of the births at home. She was a beautiful human inside and out. She was thoughtful and sentimental. She adored her grandchildren. Karen was a tenacious individual and never let life's curveballs stop her.
She is survived by her four children, Luke (Denise) Harris of Moorseville, N.C.; Timothy (Lynn Limauro) Bush of Spring Lake, Mich.; Joanna Bush of Berwick, Maine; and Bethany Bush of Rochester; She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren Caden, Seth, Joel, Troy, Rachel, Molly Beth Harris, Dylan Limauro, Jaden Briggs, Mason Kingston, and Thea Mathews, as well as her two sisters Susan Sanders of Mesa, Ariz. and Nancy Roy of Rochester.
She is preceded in death by her husband Clovis Regis (10/7/2013), her parents Ernest Sylvain (12/12/2020) and Claire (Henry) Sylvain (9/3/2011) and her brothers Norman Sylvain (2013) and Dennis Sylvain (10/25/2008).
Karen loved her lord and savior Jesus Christ, her church, her family, and nature. She will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved her.
