EAST ROCHESTER - Joseph E. Bumgardner, 64, of 109 Big Bear Road died Monday, June 23, 2014 at his home after a long illness.

He was born Nov. 20, 1949 in Altoona, Pa., the son of the late Eugene and Roxie (Morningstar) Bumgardner. He was a graduate of Huntingdon Area High School, Class of 1967, then went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Wasp. Joseph retired from the Navy Seabee's as an equipment operator. He worked for 25 years for the Coca Cola Company as a fork lift operator. He has resided in Rochester since 1987, previously living in Billerica, Mass. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren fishing and hunting.

Members of his family include his wife of 43 years, Patricia (Morin) Bumgardner, E. Rochester; his son Christopher Bumgardner and his wife Deborah of Cartersville, Ga.; daughter Amy Knox and her husband Danny of Rochester; grandchildren, Todd, Joshua, Andrew, Ethan, and Joey.
