ROCHESTER - Walter Casler, 91, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, in Dover, New Hampshire. Born on July 20, 1934, in Plainfield, New Jersey, Walter lived a full and vibrant life that spanned over nine decades.

Walter spent much of his life in New York, where he embraced the city’s energy and culture. A lifelong New Yorker at heart, he was an avid fan of the New York Giants and the New York Rangers, passionately supporting his teams through every season. Over two decades ago, Walter relocated to New Hampshire, where he enjoyed the tranquility of his later years while still carrying with him the spirit of his beloved home state.

Walter was a man who found joy in both competition and camaraderie. He loved playing golf and cherished the time he spent on the course until he could no longer play. His passion for games extended to weekly poker nights and monthly breakfasts with "the boys," moments that brought laughter and connection to his days. In his younger years, Walter enjoyed bowling and playing hockey, pursuits that reflected his active nature and love for sports. Along with these pursuits, he was active in Boy Scouts as a scoutmaster, vice chairman and Wood Badge counselor. Leading young men on hiking and camping trips at least once a month was important to him.

His special talent was singing. While in New York, he sang with the Downtown Men's Glee Club and later with the Bronx Gospel Choir. He continued this practice upon retirement with the New Hampshire Choral Society.

Known for his sense of humor and warm smile, Walter had a way of brightening any room he entered. He was a dedicated husband to Elaine and a loving father to Kathy, roles he held with pride and devotion throughout his life.

Walter's legacy is one of love, laughter, and resilience. Those who knew him will remember his quick wit, unwavering loyalty to family and friends, and the joy he brought to their lives.

May Walter’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
