ROCHESTER - Jeannette Gould, 90, died Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the Studley Home of Rochester following a short period of failing health.

Born in Boston on February 6, 1932, she was the daughter of Adolphe Lapointe Jr. and Harriet (Pothier) Lapointe.

She is survived by her children: the Rev. Robert Lefebvre Jr. of Somersworth; Michael Lefebvre (Kathy) of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; Patricia Tyo of Rochester; and Janet McKay of Farmington. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

"Jan" was predeceased by her parents, her 2 brothers: Adolphe Lapointe III and Richard Lapointe. Also predeceasing her were her first husband, Robert Lefebvre, Sr. and her second husband, Willis Gould Jr., and her nephew, Adolphe "Rick" Lapointe IV.

For many years, Jan was a foreperson at Robert Shoe, 2nd shift, Packing Room. She gave many high schoolers part-time jobs after school. When the shoe shop closed, she went to work at Curtis 1000, beginning on a printing press before moving into the office until she retired in 1993.

She was quite involved in civic matters, having served on the Somersworth City Council and serving as Acting Mayor under mayors Charles Burkham and George Bald. She served on the steering committee for several years of the Somersworth International Children's Festival, and as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Somersworth Boys Group Home. She was also involved with the Strafford County Democratic Party Committee working beside Jeanne Shaheen, years before she became governor and senator.
