ROCHESTER - Jean W. Edgerly Saladino died at her home in Rochester on 12/23/20. A longtime resident of Rochester Jean was born in 1932 to Grover and Madeleine Waterhouse.

She grew up in Raymond NH with her brother John F. Waterhouse and sister Judy Waterhouse Foley. Her early memories, which she loved to share, were filled with stories of her much-loved extended family, the farm on Harriman Hill, her wonderful friends from Raymond and how proud she was of her parents, siblings and grandparents.

After high school where she was a standout lettered athlete and honor student, Jean attended Keene State College where she obtained a bachelor degree in elementary education. She remained an ardent supporter of the college for the remainder of her life and the friends she made at Keene remained her lifelong friends.

She married James "Jim" H. Edgerly Jr after completing college and upon his return from the Korean War. They moved to Rochester, Jim's hometown, in 1955 and Jean started work as a teacher at the School Street school. Jean and Jim raised their four daughters at their beautiful home and were very active in the Rochester community. Jean ran Winnie the Pooh kindergarten for many years and delighted family and friends with an annual Big Night program starring her pupils. She was an active member of the Church of the Redeemer Episcopal church and produced many of the Christmas pageants over the years. She was extremely proud of her membership in the Daughters of the America Revolution.

Her true passions were showing horses with her father and daughters, holding Sunday dinners for the entire family; big, loud, fun family get-togethers; and cheering her daughters on at every single athletic event and horse show.

After Jim died in 1980, Jean returned to teaching full time and also became very active in the Frisbie Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, of which she was president. She remarried in 1988 to Paul D. Saladino, a former classmate at Keene State College. They were happily married for almost 30 years before his death in 2015. They enjoyed spending time at their winter home in Sarasota Fla, working on the large, beautiful yard at the Rochester home, playing cribbage on the porch and watching their families grow.

Jean was a remarkable, strong woman who leaves behind a family who will miss her greatly. She is survived by her four daughters Jennifer Edgerly, Mary Beth Edgerly, Carrie Edgerly MacLeod and her husband David, and Jane Edgerly Stowell and her husband Donald. Her grandchildren include grandaughter Elizabeth Totty with husband Keith and sons Trent and Jake; grandson James Burke with wife Molly and sons Arlo and Levi; grandson Adam Reber, and granddaughters Madison and Kennedi Stowell, and Annie and Kate MacLeod. She is survived as well by her sister Judy Waterhouse Foley and her family, and sister-in-law Barbara Waterhouse Francouer and her family.
