FARMINGTON - Irene E. Powers, 81, beloved wife, mother, and Nana, died peacefully on Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital following a brief illness.
Born June 10, 1943, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of Harold and Florence (Littlefield) Darling. She graduated from Portsmouth High School and went on to pursue a career in cosmetology before moving to France, where she gave birth to her first-born daughter.
Upon returning to the U.S., she gave birth to her second daughter and began her work at Spaulding Composites, where she retired as a Quality Control Inspector in 2005. That is where she met her husband of 40 years, and they together raised their blended family in Rochester.
She had many hobbies that included gardening, baking, and needlepoint, but above all else she loved her family, and especially enjoyed doting on her five grandchildren. She was also a longtime lover of her pets, taking great care of her dogs Shatzie, Clancy, and Annie, and in later years, her cat Mrs. B.
Members of her family include her husband Cleon "Clint" Powers of Farmington; two daughters Lorilie "Lori" A. Imbeault and husband Darren of Gonic, and Tamera J. King and husband Jason of Windham; three stepchildren Lance Powers and companion Jessica Holmes of Rochester; Rod Powers and wife Jeanne of Farmington; and Crystal Powers of Pittsfield; five grandchildren Samantha, Katharine, William, Travis and Brittany, and several beloved cousins.
