FARMINGTON - An industrial accident at SchaeferRolls claimed the life of a 60-year-old Farmington man on Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Howard Sullivan, died of "significant trauma" when he became caught in a lathe machine, Farmington Fire Chief James Reinert said today.

The emergency was toned around 12:50 p.m. for a male caught in a lathe "not conscious, not breathing," Reinert noted.

He said two other workers in the area when it happened were able to shut the lathe down, but could do little else to render aid.

Reiner said when rescue personnel arrived it was apparent the victim was already deceased.

SchaeferRolls, a manufacturer of high performance roll covers, is located off Route 11 on Plank Industrial Drive.

An employee at ShaeferRolls said today they were preparing a statement regarding the accident.

Reinert said OSHA will be investigating the circumstances of the accident.
