I am excited to see that more original local bands are playing in the area. I have to thank all the local venues for making this happen; if you don't hire these great musicians to play who will? These are musicians who want to make it their livelihoods. And many are worthy of it.
When recently chatting with Frank McDaniel he shared this: "Here you go. Did you know I played with Pat Traverse Band 2005-2008? And a song I recorded on bass guitar for him has been played over 1.5 million times on Spotify alone. And the record I recorded was also printed on vinyl?" I told him I didn't know that and he went on to also tell me something that was kind of sad. McDaniel went on to tell me "I never got any royalties for that. I even had to buy my own album. Twice! Because i have it digitally as well."
So thank you again all your venue owners that hire these musicians. I myself have no problem paying a small cover charge to have great entertainment. And people, don't be afraid to tip the musicians, especially if they are worth it!
Watch for Frank McDaniel and his band Badtude playing at the Garage next week!
