One egg, hash browns and English muffin (Rochester Voice photo)

LEBANON, Maine - The Hen House in Lebanon has become a breakfast and lunchtime institution for Lebanon residents and a pleasant surprise for summer vacationers and truckers who get hungry while plying busy Route 202 between Sanford and Rochester, N.H.
The eatery has been serving up good food at reasonable rates for almost a decade at its location at 1001 Carl Broggi Highway.
I stopped in for breakfast on Tuesday for a business meeting and was looking to eat on the light side, but even a light breakfast left me with enough to take some home in a doggie bag.

I had one of their breakfast specials: one egg with hash browns (they covered half the plate) and a gluten free English muffin.

When I've gotten gluten free English muffins in the past they often just taste like a grilled hamburger bun, but the one they served up was pure Thomas'.

The hash browns were some of the best I've had, crispy brown on the outside and soft inside.

With a bottomless cup of delicious coffee, the whole breakfast was just $10.50.

The Hen House is only about five minutes from East Rochester on Route 202.
Friendly atmosphere. Worth the ride.
