ROCHESTER - Comfort food in a comfortable setting.
That's the essence of a dining experience at the Granite Steak and Grill in Rochester.
By far the coziest seating in Rochester, the Granite Steak and Grill boasts wide booths with plenty of room to just feel, well, comfortable.
But let's face it, the rubber hits the road with the taste of the food, not the décor or ambiance.
And the deliver there, too, with delicious menu items and portions that leave aplenty for the doggie bag.
I had the Hawaiian Ham Steak off the seniors menu, which came with a sweet glaze, two sliced pineapple rounds and two sides (I chose french fries and apple sauce).
The ham was perfectly grilled and delicious in concert with the pineapple.
However, I couldn't help but muse a few raisins amid the glaze would have been orgasmic.
But beside that errant thought, all was bliss. The french fries, which are free of any floured coating and gluten, were superb: big, a little crunchy and fresh.
Granddaughter Rylee, who is all about the fries, gave them two thumbs up.
Beyond the fries, another showstopper was the warm bread with honey- and cinnamon-infused whipped butter served before the meal.
The senior meals come with a nonalcoholic beverage and a dessert. I got the warm tapioca pudding with whipped cream. A taste treat.
The meal, sans tax, was just $11.99.
And you younguns, don't be shy. The senior meal deals are for anyone 55 and over.
Granite Steak and Grill is located at 11 Farmington Road.
