CONCORD - Last year there were 25 motorcyclists who lost their lives in accidents on Granite State roadways.
In an effort hoped to bring that number down, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu will today proclaim May as Motorcycle Awareness Month today and establish a Motorcycle Task Force that will seek to promote motorcycle safety.

In partnership with the task force are The New Hampshire Motorcycle Rights Organization and the New Hampshire Office of Highway Safety, who will both be meeting with the governor today at 1 p.m. in the Executive Council Chamber at the State House.
During the ceremony Sununu will sign a proclamation making May a special time to recognize motorcycling safety.
Another aspect that will be a focus of the task force will be motorcycle awareness by those who share the roads with motorcyclists, said Emily McNair, public information officer for the Office of Highway Safety.
"We want other motorists to be aware that motorcyclists are on the road now and to be on the lookout for them," McNair told The Rochester Voice.
Also on hand for today's proclamation will be representatives of the New Hampshire Motorcycle Education Program, the New Hampshire Liquor Commission, the New Hampshire Automobile Association and AAA Northern New England.
