CONCORD - A Goffstown man pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Tuesday to 40 years in prison for the brutal stabbing death of his mother in November after an argument over a video game's volume.
Thomas Humphrey, 47, stabbed his mother, Linda Tufts, 70, more than 20 times on Nov. 28, nearly decapitating her.
He then set her body afire.
Humphrey was also sentenced to five to 10 years in prison for arson, which will be served consecutively to the murder sentence, according to a statement from the Attorney Generals Office.
