DOVER - The Dover man who brandished a gun during a Monday morning confrontation with another individual in the area of Mineral Park Drive turned himself in to police on Friday.

David Williams, 46, of 102 Durham Road, surrendered at the Dover Police Department around 4:30 p.m. on warrants for criminal threatening, felon in possession of a firearm, disobeying an officer and resisting arrest.

The incident unfolded last Monday around 7:50 a.m. as Dover Police responded to a disturbance where multiple witnesses said that a male showed a firearm during an argument with another person. Witnesses were able to provide a detailed description of the suspect's vehicle, including its license plate number.

A short time later, a plainclothes Dover Police detective operating an unmarked vehicle observed the suspect vehicle traveling on Durham Road, and a traffic stop was attempted as the vehicle pulled into his residence at 102 Durham Road.

"When the detective attempted the traffic stop, the suspect pulled into his driveway, and after a brief verbal exchange ran into a house," Dover Police Lt. Mark Nadeau said shortly after the incident.

Officers immediately established a perimeter around the property and identified the suspect as Williams.

Soon after Dover detectives obtained a search warrant, but found the house empty upon entry.

Investigators later recovered the handgun allegedly displayed by Williams during the initial incident.

Williams refused bail on Friday and is being held at Strafford County Jail pending an arraignment on Monday.
