DOVER - Frank A. Mulligan, 78, of Dover, died on March 30, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones.

Frank was born April 17, 1943 in South Berwick, Maine, the son of Edward Francis Mulligan and Catherine Aileen (Parsons) Mulligan of Dover.

After receiving his degree in Forest Technology from UNH, Frank pursued his passion for nature and the great outdoors while working for the US Forestry Service as the Snoqualmie National Forest Fire Suppression Crew Chief based out of North Bend, Wash.

Frank put his career in the Forestry Service on hold to proudly serve in the Army in the 8th Infantry Division of the 12th Engineers Combat Battalion as an E5 Sargent stationed in Germany.

After a brief return to Washington state, Frank returned home to help his family and subsequently grew his father's business into Frank A. Mulligan Excavations which he ran for many years. Frank took pride in not wasting any time, while getting the job done right.

Frank had many passions: Country and Western music, playing his guitar and mandolin, cars and motorcycles, photography, nature and he was a lover of most animals. Frank was also a renowned sarcasm enthusiast and loved to make people laugh.

Frank was a loving, dedicated husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda V. (Perkins) Mulligan of Dover; children, Adam C. Mulligan of Portsmouth, RI and Amanda L. Giarnese of Warwick RI, his grandchildren, Oliva M. and Sophie J.C. Giarnese; fourteen siblings: Mary Frances Jagielski (dec'd), Edward Mulligan of Somersworth, Michael Mulligan of Gallup, N.M., Catherine Landry of Salem, James Mulligan of Lebanon, Maine, Aileen West of Dover, Kathleen Thorner of Dover, Thomas Mulligan of Dover, Margaret Estee of Scarborough, Maine, Maureen Jones of Dover, Charleen Creighton of Dover, Charles Mulligan of Rollinsford, Peter Mulligan of Rollinsford, and Colleen Dean of Dover; and many of their spouses, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many friends.
