ROCHESTER - Frances B. Cannon, 91, died on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born March 14, 1933, in Somerville, Mass., she was the daughter of Clarence and Bertha (Allen) Barrett.
Fran worked for many years as an executive secretary for BayBank in Everett, Mass. Upon retirement, she settled into the tranquility of the Nippo Lake community in Barrington. She was an accomplished knitter, sewer and crocheter, loved to bake, work on puzzles and play the piano. She savored visits with her sisters. Fran loved flowers and enjoyed watching the progress of the gardens that surrounded her home. She also delighted in keeping track of the birds that visited the garden feeders. Fran treasured her cats and could often be found working on a project with a cat curled in her lap. She was an avid reader, and particularly enjoyed historical nonfiction and mysteries. A good book or a new project to knit, along with a cup of tea, was her idea of contentment.
Members of her family include her children Susan Graham of Rochester; Thomas Cannon of Groton; Joanne Cannon and wife Jacquelin Cloonan of Northampton, Mass.; and John Cannon of Berlin; grandchildren Ian and his wife Marjorie, and Karra, and one great grandchild Wilhelm, two sisters Donna Barrett and Bette Ann Mareno of Billerica, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, James M. Cannon. Together they built their home on Nippo Lake, starting in 1959. It was the gathering place of many happy family celebrations over the years.
