DOVER - A former Gonic woman is facing a life sentence in the 2022 overdose death of a Middleton man.
Vanessa Spear, 32, now of Conant Street, Manchester, was indicted earlier this month by a Strafford County grand jury on a charge of acts prohibited - death resulting.
According to the charging document, Spear "did commit the crime of dispensing controlled drug fentanyl ... and methamphetamine to Michael Issa and subsequently Issa ingested said controlled drug resulting in his death," which occurred in Middleton.
Issa, a father of four who enjoyed playing the guitar, listening to music and playing darts, died on July 18, 2022.
Spear, who has a history of drug arrests, made headlines when as a fugitive from justice she was found hiding in a dryer in a residence on Manatee Drive in Rochester in February of 2017.
The May Strafford County grand jury indictments were handed down on May 16 and released on Friday.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, but rather that enough evidence has been presented to move forward to trial.
