Fall cleanup day for downtown, Riverwalk and the Pines set for Sept. 18

ROCHESTER - Organizers of the city's "Fall Cleanup Day" are seeking volunteers to assist with various projects around town on Sept. 18.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Rochester Main Street volunteers will be removing the weeds and overgrown vegetation from Wyandotte Alley between Fallen Leaf Bistro and Skele-Tone Records. They will also be hanging Edison lights.

Volunteers will then move over to Central Square to plant bulbs around the perimeter of the park. Main Street will provide some gardening tools such as shovels, rakes and trowels, but encourages volunteers to bring their own gloves and tools, too.

Meanwhile, Riverwalk and rec department volunteers will begin clearing garbage from Hanson Pines to the Kayak Launch at 11 a.m. Rec will provide garbage bags and rubber gloves.

Volunteers are encouraged to show up and lend a hand.
