CONCORD - The Attorney General's office today announced that an Enfield woman was arrested on Monday in two two felony counts of financial exploitation of an elderly adult.

One charge alleges that between December 2017 and July 2019, Debra Bailey, 56, while serving as legal guardian for her 78-year-old mother, recklessly used her mother's financial resources for Bailey's own benefit and in breach of her fiduciary obligations.

The other charge alleges that between March 2018 and November 2018, Bailey recklessly failed to use her mother's financial resources to pay for her mother's shelter, including rent at a nursing facility, while under a duty to do so, instead using the resources for her own benefit.

On each charge, the state alleges that Bailey unlawfully used at least $1,500 of her mother's financial resources.

Bailey is scheduled to be arraigned on July 27 in Grafton County Superior Court.

The case was investigated by the Lebanon Police Department and is being prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Bryan J. Townsend, II, of the Elder Abuse and Financial Exploitation Unit of the Attorney General's Office.

If you or someone you know has been the victim of elder abuse or financial exploitation, please contact your local police department or the Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services (1-800-949-0470).
