Downtown man nabbed for shoplifting also found to have heroin on him: police

ROCHESTER - A downtown Rochester man arrested for allegedly shoplifting at Walmart last Tuesday was also found to have what appeared to be heroin in his possession as well as prescription pills that were not prescribed to him, police say.

Rochester Police Capt. Todd Pinkham said today that the man was initially confronted by store loss prevention.

Matthew Batchelder, 53, of 17.5 Bridge St., was charged with theft by unauthorized taking, drug possession and deal/possessing prescription drugs.
