DOVER - The state's medical examiner is investigating two recent deaths that appear to be the result of drug overdoses, Dover Police said today.
One of the deaths was discovered on Wednesday when Dover Police and Rescue responded around 1:35 p.m. to a Regent Drive residence after Peter O'Neill, 47, was reported unresponsive.
O'Neill, a resident of the address, was found to be deceased by the responding officers and paramedics.
Then on Friday around 2:35 a.m. Dover Police and Fire responded to an Old Rochester Road residence after Robert Dubay, 35, was found unresponsive. Dubay, a visitor to the residence, was found to be deceased by the responding officers and paramedics.
While the cause and manner of both deaths will be determined by the state's Medical Examiner's Office, based on the investigation to date, they appear to be drug related. If these deaths are due to drug overdoses, they will be the 10th and 11th in Dover this year. Dover had nine suspected drug related deaths in 2019. In addition to the 11 fatal overdoses in Dover in 2020, the Dover Police Department has responded to 13 nonfatal drug overdoses this year. These cases are being investigated by the Dover Police Department's Special Investigations Bureau.
