BERWICK, Maine - Donald F. Foster, 88, died on Sunday, May 5, 2024, while at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou. He was born March 27, 1936, in Calais, the son of William and Maxine Foster.

Donald grew up in Washburn and graduated from Washburn High School in 1955. He then served his country for four years with the United States Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge, Donald attended Washington State Teachers College, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in education. He taught elementary school throughout the State of Maine, retiring after his many years in the Berwick school system.

He enjoyed Boston sports teams, especially the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics, traveling many times into the city to watch the games.

Seven years ago, Donald moved to Leisure Village and later to the Maine Veterans Home, in Caribou, to be close to family. Along the way Donald received wonderful loving care, which was greatly appreciated by his family.

He is survived by his two sisters, Diane Ketchum and her husband, Brian of Mars Hill, Suzanne King and her husband, Bruce of Lexington, Va., as well as nieces and nephews, Kathy Davis and her husband, Peter, Ned Ketchum, Brianne O'Leary and her husband Tracy, Jennifer King and her husband Matthew Etter, Matthew Raoking and his wife Feng, and Jeffrey Ketchum and his wife, Lori, who helped care for Donald over the years.
