CONCORD - A Thursday recount to decide who will represent Rochester's District 7 in the New Hampshire House ended with the Republican challenger losing by just four votes, the closest race in the state.
Republican candidate Harrison deBree ended up losing, 1409-1405 instead of the original count tabulated on Nov. 3, which had him losing to Democrat Timothy Fontneau, 1408-1398.
DeBree actually thought he'd won on Election Day, 1385-1384, but an additional 37 ballots were found prior to closing out the vote, deBree posted on his official Facebook page on Nov. 4.
The recount took place on Thursday with two teams working to count the ballots.
DeBree congratulated Fontneau following the recount.
