ROCHESTER - Daniel "Dan" E. Sheehy, 76, died peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover. He was surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 27, 1947, in Dover, Dan was the son of the late Edward and Margaret Sheehy.

A true Dover native, Dan graduated from Dover High in 1965. Following graduation, he served his country honorably in the Navy - serving active duty during the Vietnam War serving on the ammunition ship USS Great Sitkin. Upon his return, Dan went on to work for General Electric in Meter Production. He retired in April 2002. Dan was also a member of St. Joseph Church and was very proud to have had a grandfather that helped build the church.

In his free time, Dan could often be found with a golf club, fishing rod, or pool cue in his hand. He adored playing the greens at The Oaks of Somersworth, and when in the water, Dan enjoyed fly fishing in the waters of the Great North Woods. He was a member of the pool league at Biddy Mulligan's and he also enjoyed setting up camp with his family and friends, especially in Jefferson.

Dan was also an avid sportsman, whether on the field or in the stands. He was a part of the General Electric Softball League that made their way to a national title. He was also a huge fan of New England Sports, from the Red Sox to the Celtics, Patriots to the Bruins, Dan was a fan. Though, the Bruins held the highest regard.

Most importantly though, Dan adored his family and time spent with friends.

Left to cherish Dan's memory is his wife of 18 years, Janette (Currie) Sheehy of Rochester; son, Timothy Sheehy, wife, Lauren, and their children, Harper and Thurston, of Carlsbad, Calif.; daughter, Rebecca Lewis, husband, Patrick, and their daughter, Elizabeth, of Crowley Lake, Calif.; stepdaughter, Meghan Morrison, spouse, Lester, and their children, Elton, Javante, and Dion of Dover; brother, Edward Sheehy and wife, Wendy, of Dover; sisters, Coleen Ayers and husband, Clifford, of Dover, Lisa Sheehy and husband, Larry, of Thornton, and Kathleen Starling, and husband, Douglas, of Rollinsford; and a host of extended family members and friends.
