ROCHESTER - Daniel F. Chandler, 74, died on Thursday Sept. 19, 2024, at his home. After a lifetime of enjoying sports like softball, running, and golf, Dan's health declined in recent years.
Born May 28, 1950, in Haverhill, Mass., he was the son of the late Leon "Chick" and Kathryn "Kay" (Cragin) Chandler. He graduated from Haverhill High School in 1968 and went on to Nasson College in Sanford, Maine, graduating in 1972.
Dan loved working as a teacher for 40 years, first in the Portsmouth School system and most recently at Greenland Central School, before his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling, running, playing golf, and once shot a hole in one at The Oaks. He was proud to be a member of The DC Pounders softball team remembered as an all-star first baseman. He enthusiastically followed all Boston Sports Teams. Dan was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends, particularly his specialty - baked stuffed lobster. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by members of his family which include wife Patrice (Smith) Chandler of Rochester; his daughters Kayla and Kendra Chandler both of Boston; his brother Michael Chandler and wife Shelley of Telluride, Colo.; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Dan also deeply enjoyed his close community of friends who will be celebrating his life forever.
