BERWICK, Maine - Daniel B. MacKenzie, 62, surrounded by family and friends, died on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital following a tragic work-related accident. Dan was born in Dover, on April 2, 1959 to Donald J. and Dorothy (Crouch) MacKenzie. He grew up in Rollinsford, attended local schools, graduated from Somersworth High School, and lived in this area for his entire life. He was always self-employed and worked hard, primarily in tree removal.

To say that Dan lived life on his own terms and by his own set of rules would be the highest of understatements. He loved the family farm in Berwick, home to MacKenzies since 1930, but he also loved to travel. He vacationed in India, Ukraine, Lithuania, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Colombia. Dan and his wife Mabel recently bought a farm in Colombia where they enjoyed the Colombian mountains, farming coffee, and their special pet "Ana Pulesia."

What Dan loved most in life, however, was his family and friends. He was a husband, father, grandfather, cousin, uncle, brother, and a loyal friend. He is survived by his former wife Sherry and their four children Crystal, Amanda, Danny, Trevor, and their families. He is survived, too, by his dear friend Cristy and her Colombian and Costa Rican family, by his brother Stephen and sisters-in-law MaryAnne and Barbara, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a huge cadre of lifelong friends. All of them will miss him greatly.

Dan is also survived by his beloved wife Mabel. They married at the MacKenzie farm four years ago and have been inseparable since. They traveled together frequently to both Colombia and Costa Rica and here at home they were constantly together, even working together. Whether Dan needed revving up or calming down, Mabel was always there. Dan never tired of telling her, "Bubu, I love you."

Rest in peace, Dan. We all loved you, and we still do.
