City woman struck in crosswalk rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries

ROCHESTER - A city woman suffered a serious head injury on Sunday when she was struck by a vehicle in the city's downtown.

Police say the accident occurred around 8 a.m. in the area of Strafford Square when a 1998 Subaru Forester driven by George Terry, 52 of Rochester, was traveling south on North Main Street and struck the pedestrian, who was in a crosswalk.

Diane Felts, 62 of Rochester, was found unconscious and transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Strafford Square is located at the intersection of North Main, Walnut and Washington streets.

The Strafford County Regional Technical Accident Reconstruction Team responded to assist with the scene and accident investigation.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, however impairment does not appear to be a factor at this time.
