DOVER - A Rochester woman accused of dragging her boyfriend out of bed and pummeling him such that he suffered a severe head injury is facing a long stretch in a New Hampshire State Prison after her recent indictment on two counts of second degree DV assault.
Kathleen Hills, 49, of Columbus Avenue, did "recklessly cause bodily injury to (the victim) ... by pulling him out out of bed causing him to strike his head and repeatedly striking him while he was on the floor, causing subarachnoid hemorrhages and bruising, and then leaving him on the floor for several hours without aid." according to court documents.
A subarachnoid hemorrhage occurs when there is bleeding into the subarachnoid space between the brain and the thin tissues covering it.
The other count says Hills strangled him by dragging "him on the floor by his shirt collar ... causing him to have impeded breathing or blood circulation."
Each charge carries a three and a half to seven-year prison term.
The incidents occurred on Feb. 19 in Rochester.
The recent grand jury indictments were handed down on April 17 and released on Friday.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, rather than enough evidence has been brought forward to move on to trial.
