ROCHESTER - The Rochester Recreation Department recently announced the return of the Lilac Family Fun Festival, which will be on July 13 from 4-9 p.m.

The Lilac Family Fun Festival is a free, family-friendly event featuring kiddie carnival rides, live entertainment, several vendors and food trucks, games and activities, and what is arguably the best fireworks show in New Hampshire.

Shortly before the New Year, Director of Recreation Lauren Krans appealed to the Rochester City Council to increase funding to enhance the event.

"Our team is excited to provide another fun event this year," Kranz told the council. "We recognize that creating positive community traditions is an invaluable investment for the City's current and future members. We are honored to have this responsibility."

The City Council ultimately decided to provide $45,000 to fund the event.

Krans said that attendees can expect that all events, vendor booths, and activities will be inclusive of everyone, from children to senior citizens, and foster "fun for the whole family." She also expressed that it's the mission of her team to create a shared, positive experience that can become a lasting memory for the whole community.

Event organizers say more information regarding volunteer and vendor opportunities will be posted to www.rochesternh.gov/fun in early March.
