"Have you missed browsing the stacks to find your own library books? Does the thought of opening a book jacket to read the summary make you smile? Good news: browsing is back! The Rochester Public Library is pleased to announce that it will be offering browsing appointments starting Wednesday, February 17.

Children's Room

Book Character Scavenger Hunt

RPL Children's Room will be holding a scavenger hunt over February school vacation. Start at the Library, where Scavenger Hunt Riddle Packets can be picked up in the ground floor lobby starting Sat, Feb 20 through Sat, Feb 27. Solve the riddles to find downtown businesses or city buildings where small book character silhouettes are in a window. Identify the character and move on to the next riddle! The hunt is designed for all ages. Younger children may need assistance. Allow approx. 45-90 min to complete the hunt. This is a no contact program, and can be completed even if a business is closed. We hope that while families are searching for their next book character, they will also get excited about visiting downtown businesses! To be entered for randomly drawn prizes, return your completed form no later than Monday, March 1.

Paying Fines

Returned items are being quarantined for a period of time before they are checked in. Check-ins are backdated to the day they were placed in the book returns.

When we check items in after being in quarantine, we've been finding some patrons have included money to pay their fines. Please avoid doing this, as money can easily come loose in the book drop. Instead, stop by the desk in the inner lobby where we can accept your payments. If you have any questions about your account please call 603-332-1428 ext 2.
