ROCHESTER - The older brother of the man on trial in the murder of two women in Farmington in 2017 took the stand on Tuesday saying that when he went shopping with the defendant the day after the killings he appeared "off" and not himself.
It was the sixth day of testimony in the Timothy Verrill murder trial taking place in Courtroom 2 at Strafford Superior Court in Dover.
Verrill, 41, formerly of Dover, is charged in the Jan. 27, 2017, killing of Christine Sullivan, 48, of Farmington; and Jenna Pellegrini, 32, of Barrington. Both were found dead of multiple stab wounds.

Jeff Verrill, who was living in Newton at the time of the killings, said
his younger brother called him around 1 p.m. on Jan. 28, the day after the women were slain, to ask him to go on some errands with him.
Jeff Verrill said he drove to Timothy Verrill's home on Cushing Street in Dover, and they then left to do some shopping at a downtown Dover cellphone store, Target, where he bought some clothes; Red's Shoe Barn, where he bought a pair of boots; and Papa Bear Auto Care, where he got an oil change, had his car's headlights resurfaced and had his Honda CRV vacuumed.
They then went back to Timothy Verrill's home on Cushing Street.
Asked how the defendant was acting that Saturday, Jeff Verrill said he seemed "off."

Sometime during the afternoon of Jan. 28, Jeff Verrill said his brother got a phone call and heard him mention the name, Christine, and understood that someone was looking to locate her.
"I said I hoped she's OK and asked if he knew anything about it. He said no," Jeff Verrill testified.
Later in the day his younger brother texted him that "he was freaking out."
"Had that ever happened before?" he was asked by the prosecution.
"Never," Jeff Verrill said.
The next day, Jan. 29, a Sunday, Jeff Verrill testified he invited Tim Verrill and his girlfriend over for a cookout at his Newton home.
They arrived in his girlfriend's car, but soon after State Police called and said they wanted to talk to Timothy Verrill.
Jeff Verrill testified that after Timothy Verrill spoke with police he told them they wanted to speak with him about Christine and he was going outside to wait for them to arrive.
Moments later Jeff Verrill walked out to wait with his brother, but found he had left in his girlfriend's car. Later Jeff Verrill found that his brother had taken the plates from Jeff Verrill's roommate's vehicle and put them on his girlfriend's.
Jeff Verrill said he then called police dispatch to tell them that his brother had skipped.
He said he then tried to call and text his brother but there was no reply.
Later that day he learned that Christine was dead.
Verrill has been incarcerated since February 2017 when he was arrested in Massachusetts. His first trial in 2019 ended in a mistrial after it was learned the New Hampshire State Police Major Crimes Unit had failed to turn over massive amounts of evidence, some of which was exculpatory, meaning it may have benefited the defense.
The trial is expected to run into April.
Verrill faces life in prison if convicted.
