It is prescient that in the early 2000s the national holiday that used to be known as Washington's Birthday began its transition to Presidents Day.
Why? Because now that it has become Presidents Day, it provides citizens with a reflection point to understand the state of the presidency and where our Constitutional Republic is headed.
And it doesn't look good.
Democrats and the deep state have marshaled extraordinary money and resources as they try to derail the Trump train, which is bent on reducing the number of federal bureaucrats - perhaps even whole agencies that make up the DC swamp.
Let's first take a look at the fecklessness of the Biden administration, which declares the border secure as U.S. taxpayers shell out some $150 billion a year to pay for housing, health care, food stamps and welfare for around three millions illegal immigrants that have enter the country annually the past three years.
Many wonder what the Biden administration strategy is for allowing all these migrants into the country, but it's pretty plain it's an attempt by Democrats to make it so they will remain in power in what will become a one-party totalitarian state. That's right, just like China and Russia.
Some mayors in blue states are already working to finagle voting rights to illegals in local elections. It's only a matter of time till Democrats try to push that through nationally, since black and Hispanic voters are increasingly defecting to the GOP.
But the border is just the beginning of Biden's legacy of failure, which dates back decades.
In 2021 former defense secretary Robert Gates, who served in the Obama administration, declared that Biden had been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.
And Biden has been up to the challenge to make Gates' assertion ring true.
On Biden's first day in office he shut down the Keystone Pipeline and began his attack on U.S. oil producers. The result was a huge drop in American production, forcing us to buy from dictatorships in Venezuela and Russia, which used its growing oil revenue to fund its war in Ukraine.
And don't forget Biden signaled to Russia dictator Vladimir Putin that a "minor incursion" into Ukraine might not provoke much of a response from the U.S. Talk about telegraphing your intentions!
Biden also presided over the infamously botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, which handed over billions of dollars of U.S. military hardware to the Taliban and led to the deaths of 13 U.S. serviceman and 170 Afghan civilians in the waning days of the U.S. presence there.
More recently Biden has sought to micro manage Israel's war with the terror group Hamas, which was responsible for brutally murdering more than 1,400 Israelis during the Oct. 7 massacre.
As the war between Israel and Hamas ramped up in October, Biden warned Iran and other proxies not to widen the war. What was his message to them?
"Don't!"
Later when the Yemen Houthis carried out some 170 attacks on U.S. forces in the region, he did little other than blow up a few storage dumps.
And the Houthi attacks continue.
Biden's foreign policy team is weak, and weakness inspires your enemies to attack. And they have.
The Biden administration has been a disaster on the foreign and domestic stage, earning Biden the lowest approval rating of any president at this stage of his term.
The number one priority of any government is the safety of its citizens.
Biden's policies have diminished our safety, both on the domestic and foreign front.
He needs to leave.
