Be wary of an elitist con at Constitutional Convention

To the editor:

Recently our Constitutional Republic has been undergoing a critical time with many enemies attacking our Constitution, among these enemies there has been a "silent crisis" ongoing for decades with a dangerous agenda to rewrite the Constitution.

A Hearing on this issue took place on Jan. 29 before House State-Federal Relations & Veterans Affairs Committee. You can find contact information at gencourtnh.com for the Honorable committee headed by Al Baldasaro, Chairman; Representative Michael Moffett, V Chairman; and Members of the House State-Federal Relations & Veterans Affairs Committee.

In this communication to oppose HCR 1 & 4, I would like to impress upon you the long history of the 40 year war for a Constitutional Convention, a hot war in our state as throughout the nation. In these years we have seen good causes that appeal to State legislators for support for amendments such as: Balance the Budget, protection of life in the womb and Term Limits among others.

These amendment calls are sold as "grassroots" to counteract our runaway federal government spending and power. But because they look good on the surface, I beg you to consider the danger they represent underneath to our Constitutional Republic. To many of you who support HCR 1 & 4, I strongly suggest you be concerned with the anti-American nature and pro-world government money power that has gained your support by convincing you that these amendments have been initiated by a groundswell of grassroots support. More accurately, I believe the Con-Con Network could be labeled, demagogues who have run around in front of popular causes to lead them astray.

The Con-Con Network has power and unlimited funds to finance many organizations through Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) member, George Soros's Open Society Foundation. You might compare the budget of the John Birch Society paid to Coordinators across the nation along with all volunteer activity, to : "The Con-Con network " that has received more than $2,201,500 since 2002 through Soros's Open Society Foundation along with money power coming from The Barbara Streisand Foundation that funds the American Constitutional Society (ACS), The Sandler foundation along with support from many other sources of power and money. Such power and money too often buys opinions.

Michael P. Farris is Head of Convention of the States (COS) agenda. Mark Meckler is the President of Citizens for Self Governance (CSG). Does it not seem strange that Meckler a co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots who has since left that patriotic group, would promote this cause. I bet you that there are many six figure salaries that dominate the Con-Con Network.

Michael Farris is also Senior Fellow for Constitutional Studies, is closely connected to Grover G. Norquist a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) , an organization founded in 1921 to destroy the Constitution and replace it with world Government. The CFR was instrumental in founding the United Nations, and that at its Founding, later convicted Soviet agent , Alger Hiss a CFR member became the co- writer of the UN Charter, and first Secretary General of the UN at the San Francisco Conference in 1945. Check out this revealing article by a great "grassroots" organization called, "Secure The Republic."

Finally I would like to impress upon you all that I have been a pro-lifer as a member of the John Birch Society since way before Roe V. Wade. So I would not be a part of opposing a Convention for an Article V Amendment because there are so many unknowns that Article V is silent about that would be decided at a "sovereign Convention." Also, my belief that the "common sense" of a "balanced budget" that applies to individual families also should apply to the federal government budget. However, all the above reasons for distrust in something good coming out of an Article V Convention is my reason to oppose both HCR 1 & 4. I appreciate your consideration of my views . I urge you to vote "No" on both resolutions.

Merrimack
