Barrington man charged with third drunken driving offense after four-town pursuit

BARRINGTON - A Barrington man was arrested Wenesday after a pursuit that started in Epping and ended in his hometown with a DWI charge.

State Police got involved around 7:35 p.m. when they received a report of a driver who was refusing to stop for Epping Police.

Responding troopers located the chase along Route 27 in Epping and followed the driver through Epping, Raymond, Nottingham, and Barrington where the deployment of a tire deflation device was successful. The driver, however, continued through Barrington at a reduced speed.

The pursuit finally ended around 8:10 p.m. when the driver stopped in a residential neighborhood and was taken into custody.

Nathan Hartung, 49, was charged with a third offense of driving while intoxicated, operating after suspension, operating a motor vehicle without a required alcohol interlock device and disobeying a police officer. He was held in preventative detention pending his arriagnment today in Rochester District Court.
