Barrington Girl Scout racks up cookie sales in all 50 states, even overseas

BARRINGTON - Most Girl Scouts are happy to achieve their goals by selling cookies to friends, family, and to the public through their cookie booths and online storefronts. One Girl Scout Brownie took the challenge a lot farther - selling cookies in all 50 states; Washington, D.C.; and even to a military ship overseas.

LilyLynn Cashin, 8, of Barrington, is a second-grader at Barrington Elementary School and a member of Girl Scout Troop 61748. Her mother, Jessie Bennett, said LilyLynn created several videos to explain her goal, which Bennett shared on her social media. After seeing her videos, family and friends helped to connect LilyLynn to customers across the country.

Selling cookies across the United States is easy for the Girl Scouts who use online ordering. Those who bought from her storefront helped LilyLynn, while getting the cookies shipped directly to them. But cookies to a ship out in the ocean?

"The international sale was her softball coach that is stationed on a ship overseas, and his wife had the cookies delivered to him on the ship!" said Bennett.

Cashin sold 900 packages of Girl Scout Cookies this season, which benefit her in many ways, not least the financial and business skills she is learning.

"She is going to use her cookie credits to go to Camp Seawood this summer," said Bennett. "Her troop is planning a camping trip to Maine and doing an Easter activity with the local nursing home."

While Girl Scout Cookie sales are winding down for the season, some Girl Scouts are continuing to offer them for sale into April. Cookies can also be ordered at www.girlscoutcookies.org or through the Cookie Finder app.
