ROCHESTER - The Rochester Opera House will hold auditions for its upcoming production of a musical that takes place on a Greek island featuring the music of ABBA! on Sept. 30 from 6-10 p.m. Callbacks will be made on Oct. 1.
Auditions will take place at the Rochester Performing Arts Center at 32 North Main St. in Rochester, and callbacks will be held at the Governor's Inn in Rochester.
The show will be produced by Anthony Ejarque, and directed by Stephen Small, with musical direction by Kathy Fink.
Show dates are Jan. 11-27. Performances will be on Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 2 and 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
There will be a condensed, intensive rehearsal process beginning on Dec. 1 through to opening night on Jan. 11.
Rehearsals and will take place Monday-Friday evenings and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Anyone cast in another show during the rehearsal time will not be cast. Show producers are seeking adults and teens age 18 and older. Show hopefuls should be prepared to sing 16-32 bars of a song from a musical in a similar style.
Music should be brought in a stiff three-ring binder. Piano/vocal music is preferred, not a lead sheet or simplified version. A pianist will be provided. There will be a dance call, so dress appropriately. Anyone trying out should bring a recent headshot and resume if available, and come prepared to list any conflicts they may have through the rehearsal process.
