ROCHESTER - Ashanti Naeshia Cox, 29, died unexpectedly the morning of Friday, July 23, 2022, in Berwick, Maine.

Ashanti was born in Tampa, Fla., to the late Nadine Young and Arthur Cox. Ashanti had the type of energy that grasped everyone's attention in the room. She grew up in Rochester School systems, and graduated from Bud Carlson Academy then went on to Great Bay Community College and completed her Associates in Science. Ashanti leaves her legacy through her beautiful four-year-old Daughter, Armanii.

"Ashanti was a Lit, courageous, Independent, Smart, Fun loving, reliable, sensitive, entertaining, beautiful young soul." Ashanti was known for her ability to make friends and her diva-like attitude. She will be remembered by how loved you felt around her. Being around Ashanti you felt you could do anything. If Ashanti called you a friend you could always count on her and more importantly if you were family she'd never turn on you. Ashanti energy is unmatched <3.

In addition to her Father Arthur Cox of Tampa and daughter Armanii, she is survived by her siblings Latashia Salter of Tampa Bay, and Malcolm Young of Dover and also Buffy Moody and Shamaro Cox of Plant City, Fla., adopted brother Devon Smith of Berwick, Maine, and step-brother Kaz Rose of Portsmouth, Va. One nephew Andrew Lucas of Tampa, and nieces Jamaira Pease of Tampa, Nautica Young and Paris Young of Dover and Great-nephew Jakary Dixon of Tampa. Also aunts, uncles, several in-laws and host of cousins from all over the U.S. that she will also be dearly missed by.
