ROCHESTER - The public is invited to attend Rochester Main Street's sixth annual Festival of Trees event next Friday, Dec., 3, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 3-7 p.m. The event is held at Studley's Flower Gardens at 82 Wakefield Street in Rochester.

The festival offers the public an opportunity to win dozens of wonderfully decorated trees donated by area businesses and organizations. The trees often include valuable gifts in addition to beautiful decorations.

Friday's portion follows the downtown tree lighting at Central Square and includes holiday music. Friday's guests can be among the first to view the gorgeous trees while getting the first chance to enter raffles.

Saturday's portion also includes holiday music and a visit from Santa 5-7 p.m.

Jeffrey Bisson, coordinator of the event for Rochester Main Street said, "Rochester Main Street is excited to be part of the kickoff to our Holiday Season here in Rochester."

The weekend starts with the Christmas Tree Lighting in Central Square, followed by the Friday night preview of trees. Then on Saturday it's the annual Ugly Sweater and Pub Crawl and second day of the Festival of Trees. The Chamber finishes the weekend off with the Christmas parade on Saturday.

Rochester Main Street is also bringing you Elf of The Shelf on Dec 18th, from 11 - 3," Bisson added. "Bring the kids out to find the elves hidden around the downtown and enter to win fun prizes and take pictures with Santa."

Anyone wishing to volunteer can check out the links for the Signup Genius on Rochester Main Street's Facebook page or contact Jeffrey Bisson at 603-973-9642.

Admission to the Festival is just $5 each day and includes 5 raffle tickets for the drawings. Children enter free. Additional raffle tickets are also available for purchase to increase the chances of winning.

All drawings are pulled Saturday at 7 p.m. Winners do not need to be present to win. If not present, winners will receive a phone call and must respond. Winners can collect the winnings after the event concludes Saturday or on Sunday, Dec. 8 during the hours 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Unclaimed trees and gifts by 1 p.m. Sunday will be forfeited.

Guests can vote for their favorite trees in categories of "Best Dressed" and "Most Creative."

If a business or organization would like to decorate a tree this year, Bisson at jeffreybnh@aol.com.

Proceeds from the Festival of Trees benefit the downtown Rochester district through Rochester Main Street. Rochester Main Street is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization dedicated to the economic and visual enhancement of downtown Rochester.
