ROCHESTER - A Rochester man is accused of not only possessing and trafficking cocaine during a July encounter with Rochester Police, but also being under the influence of drugs during an earlier court hearing in June when he was allegedly making false statement while under the influence of several illegal drugs.
Troy Turcotte, 41, of Winter Street, was indicted recently on Class A felony charges of trafficking drugs that were the result of a July 21 arrest in Rochester and Class B perjury for allegedly lying to the court at a June 26 hearing.
Turcotte is said to have "knowingly made false statements under oath or affirmation of a material statement which he did not believe to be true during a hearing," according to court documents.
During that testimony it is alleged he was under the influence of cocaine, benzodiazepine, a depressant; amphetamines and THC, the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis.
The trafficking charge could could draw up to a 20-year prison stint and a $3,000 fine. The perjury charge is punishable by up to seven years.
The indictments were handed down in November.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, but rather that enough evidence has been presented to a grand jury to move forward to trial.

I have first-hand, direct knowledge of Troy Turcotte, and the headline being circulated about him is false and deeply misleading.

Troy is not a drug dealer. He is not a liar. He did not commit perjury. These labels do not reflect reality, and they do not reflect the man I know or the facts of what actually occurred.

On the day the court later chose to characterize in a damaging way, I was with Troy from the moment he woke up until he went to sleep. I observed him continuously. At no point was he under the influence of any substance. What others interpreted as something sinister was nothing more than fear and anxiety—fear that his future, his freedom, and his ability to be present for his children were being decided by a system that often reduces people to allegations instead of truth.

Troy is a devoted father who deeply loves his children. He is a man navigating divorce, separation from his family, and the emotional toll of trying to rebuild a life after years of stability were taken away. Anyone who has lived through that understands how overwhelming and frightening it can be—especially when every word and expression is scrutinized and mischaracterized.

He is not a bad person. He is intelligent, talented, thoughtful, and compassionate. He is the kind of man who teaches the people around him, who shows up for those he loves, and who continues to move forward even when the system seems determined to paint him as something he is not.

This headline does not tell the truth about Troy. It reflects assumptions, exaggerations, and conclusions drawn from court narratives that are often presented to the public without context, without balance, and without the voices of those who actually know the individual involved.

If any reporter wants the truth—real truth, not recycled allegations or courtroom soundbites—they are welcome to speak with me. I am willing to answer questions and provide first-hand information. Stop relying solely on narratives that dehumanize people and turn complex lives into sensational headlines.

Troy Turcotte is not a monster. He is a human being, a father, and a man who has done nothing to deserve being portrayed the way this headline suggests.

My email to show, I will tell the truth and prove that these allegations are infact false. He has done no such thing this article portrays. So please do not judge this kind, amazing and innocent man from what this article says or any other that may be out there at this time. Tbjs.14@gmail.com
