ROCHESTER - A Rochester man is accused of not only possessing and trafficking cocaine during a July encounter with Rochester Police, but also being under the influence of drugs during an earlier court hearing in June when he was allegedly making false statement while under the influence of several illegal drugs.
Troy Turcotte, 41, of Winter Street, was indicted recently on Class A felony charges of trafficking drugs that were the result of a July 21 arrest in Rochester and Class B perjury for allegedly lying to the court at a June 26 hearing.
Turcotte is said to have "knowingly made false statements under oath or affirmation of a material statement which he did not believe to be true during a hearing," according to court documents.
During that testimony it is alleged he was under the influence of cocaine, benzodiazepine, a depressant; amphetamines and THC, the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis.
The trafficking charge could could draw up to a 20-year prison stint and a $3,000 fine. The perjury charge is punishable by up to seven years.
The indictments were handed down in November.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, but rather that enough evidence has been presented to a grand jury to move forward to trial.
