STRAFFORD - Alan Robert Hackert, 63, died unexpectedly at his Strafford, NH home on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023. He was born on Nov. 5, 1959, in Schenectady, N.Y. to the late William P. Hackert Sr. and the late Marion R. Hackert.
He loved his family and was devoted husband to Jeanne and proud father of son Alex of Manchester. He was brother to Carl (Catherine) of Ballston Spa N.Y., Ruth (Craig) Goldstein, of Goose Creek, S.C., Frank of Rotterdam, N.Y., John (Sherrill McGill) of Charlton, N.Y. and William Hackert, Jr. (Deceased) of Rotterdam, N.Y.; sister-in-law Sheila Hackert.
He was especially proud of his granddaughter, Emelyn and grandson Evan children of his stepson Arthur Landry, and had many nieces and nephews.
Alan was a graduate of Mohonasen High School, Class of 1977, Hudson Valley Community College Class of 1979 and The University of New Hampshire. He was employed as a field engineer in the 1980s for Universal Instruments in Binghampton, N.Y. prior to joining General Electric in Somersworth and then Cabletron in Rochester. Alan later joined with business associates and formed Bradford Networks located in Concord where he worked as a software engineering manager. Bradford was acquired by Fortinet in 2018. Alan was Software Engineering Director until his retirement in 2022.
He enjoyed driving his restored 1973 Dodge Challenger, motorcycling and snowmobiling throughout the northeast. Alan enjoyed working around the house. He was fond of traveling and was a licensed amateur ham radio operator. He was a friend to everyone who knew him, always a gentleman known for his quick wit and pleasing sense of humor and he will be missed.
