ROCHESTER - The child involved in Wednesday’s collision on Route 202 near the Barrington line has died.

Seven-year-old Madison Weeks of Strafford died at Maine Medical Center in Portland after being transported there after the accident, which occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the area of Blue Hills Drive.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2004 Toyota Matrix, operated by Roberta Siderchuck, 48, of Strafford, N.H., was travelling westbound on Route 202, when it collided with a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Madison Weeks’ mom, 31-year-old Lori Weeks, who was traveling eastbound. Police say Weeks lost control of her vehicle and skidded into the oncoming lane of traffic where it was struck on the rear passenger side by Siderchuck’s vehicle.

Lori Weeks was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for treatment of what police described as nonlife-threatening injuries, while Madison Weeks was transported to Maine Medical Center.

Police are saying that Madison Weeks was in the back seat at the time of the crash, but are not disclosing whether or not she was wearing a seat belt. She was outside the car lying on the ground when first responders arrived.

Police are saying snowy conditions at the time of the accident are a factor in the crash.

The Strafford County Regional Accident Reconstruction Team was called out to investigate the accident. Washington Street/202 was closed for approximately five hours between Green Hill Road in Barrington and Dry Hill Road in Rochester.
