HOLLIS, Maine - Three Maine State Troopers and a trooper recruit were injured when a vehicle crashed into them as were doing a roadside investigation involving a family dispute in Hollis.
The three troopers, Jake Mowry, David Lemieux and Dakota Stewart along with Trooper Recruit Shane St. Pierre were communicating with those involved in the dispute in the area of the intersection of Hollis Road (Rt. 202) and Star Lane.
As the Troopers were conducting interviews in the breakdown area near the driveway of a private residence when around 11:10 p.m. a vehicle traveling eastbound on Hollis Road drove into the breakdown lane and struck all four Troopers.
The vehicle was operated by a 24-year-old male from Westbrook, according to public information officer Shannon Moss. He was accompanied by a single passenger.
Police say it is unknown at this time why the vehicle drove into the breakdown lane. The driver was transported to Maine Medical Center with minor injuries.
The Troopers were also transported to Maine Medical Center where Stewart was treated and released from the hospital with several broken bones in his right foot. Troopers Lemieux, Mowry and Trooper Recruit St. Pierre remain at MMC and are being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries. The crash is being investigated by the York County Sheriff's Office. The scene was reconstructed by the Kennebunk Police Department. Investigators have conferred with the York County District Attorney's Office and will work with them moving forward.
