CONCORD - A Manchester woman has been arrested in connection with the death of an elderly Manchester man on Sunday.
Manchester police responded to an apartment at 259 Chestnut St. after receiving a 911 call around 5 a.m.
When police entered the apartment, they found the victim, Vernon Hayford, 75, suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a hospital for treatment where he later died, according to s statement sent Sunday evening by the AG's Office.
Carrie Drake, 54, is charged with one count of second-degree murder for recklessly causing Hayford's death by stabbing him. She is also charged with being a felon in possession of a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.
Drake is in custody, and an arraignment is set for 9 a.m. today.
