FARMINGTON - William A. "Bill" Yates, 81, a lifelong resident of Farmington, died peacefully on April 8, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, with his loving wife Nancy J. (Kuriger) Yates of 25 years, by his side.

Born on August 6, 1940, in Farmington, he was the son of Frederick Yates and Albina (Pageau) Yates. He is survived by his two brothers, Edward and Everett Yates.

Bill was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 490 for over 60 years. He held several titles during his tenure, including business manager and president. He founded Yates Electric Service in 1978 in Farmington then relocated the business to Durham in 1999 where it continues to operate. Bill served on several boards with the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) of Greater Boston.

Bill served as a board member of the Farmington National Bank for several years and the NH Electrical Licensing Board.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. He was a life member of the Farmington Fish & Game Club as well as the NRA. Other memberships include; Rochester American Legion Post #7, Elks Lodge in Rochester and Moose Club of Dover.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his children; Michael Yates of Lynchtown, Maine, Julie Merrill of Dover, Paula and husband Christian Kuselias of North Hampton, and stepdaughter Jayme and husband Dan Thibeault of Milton as well as his grandchildren: Jacob, Brandi, Ella, Katie, Sydney and great-grandson, Levi.
